Madhya Pradesh is on the verge of a major breakthrough, with strong possibilities of discovering world largest gold mine in Jabalpur. Gold Mining survey agencies from both the central and state governments are currently conducting detailed geological surveys in the region.

Meanwhile, excavation has already begun at the Umariya-Imaliya region of Sleemanabad in Katni district. This site has been designated as an underground mine, with mineral deposits expected to be found approximately 200 meters below the surface. The location is believed to contain gold, silver, copper, lead, and zinc.

A Mumbai-based company has been allotted the mining rights and has received all necessary environmental and technical clearances.

Estimated 3 Lakh Tonnes of Ore in Underground Reserve

Initial surveys suggest that the underground mine could hold up to 3 lakh tonnes of ore, including pure gold as well as gold in ore form. The underground project spans around 6 hectares and is now under development. Experts believe that the mine could yield significant quantities of gold, with both refined and ore-based gold deposits expected to be extracted in the coming years.

Gold Possibilities Emerge in Majhgawan-Kewlari, Jabalpur

New prospects of gold deposits have surfaced in the Majhgawan-Kewlari region of Sihora Tehsil, located in the Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. Although gold is suspected in the area, District Mining Officer Ashok Rai clarified that no official report confirming gold presence has been received by his department so far.

However, the region is known for active mining of several minerals including iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, marble, and limestone, and excavation operations are currently ongoing in multiple sites.

Multiple Agencies Involved in Survey Operations

Ashok Rai mentioned that the mineral exploration work is jointly carried out by several organizations, including the Geological Survey of India (GSI), Indian Bureau of Mines, State Geological Department, and the District Mineral Department, alongside a few private firms.

S.V. Dhoopeshwar, an officer from the Mining Department, added that traces of gold may be found with iron ore, but the quantity is generally too low to qualify for commercial extraction.

Diamond Discovery Brings Instant Wealth to Laborer

In a related story from Chhatarpur, a local laborer hit the jackpot after discovering eight diamonds, instantly becoming a lakhpati (a person owning over ₹1 lakh in assets). The diamond-rich Panna mines continue to change lives, drawing hundreds to apply for mining leases.

5000 Hectares Under Active Mineral Exploration

The mineral exploration across Jabalpur and Katni districts currently spans around 5,000 hectares. These regions are considered highly mineral-rich, with increasing attention on the Jabalpur gold mine prospects. However, officials warn that not every area yields commercially viable deposits. The zones are known for an abundance of bauxite, dolomite, silica sand, limestone, and marble rock, along with the potential of hidden precious metals.

While the presence of gold beneath the surface cannot be ruled out, no official geological confirmation has been made yet. Survey efforts, however, are actively ongoing.
